About the brand
Seymour Duncan founded his company in Santa Barbara, California, in 1976, after years of hand-winding pickups for musicians including Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, and Led Zeppelin. From the beginning, the brand specialised in recreating the sounds of vintage 1950s and 60s pickups with modern materials and greater manufacturing consistency.
The JB (SH-4) is the best-selling replacement pickup in history: a high-output humbucker with a balanced tone that adapts to virtually any style. The '59 (SH-1) is the recreation of Gibson's legendary late-1950s PAF — the original humbucker. The Antiquity series represents the extreme end of artificial aging and authentic vintage sound.
