About the brand
Peter Häussel founded Häussel Pickups in Bavaria, Germany, in 1965 — making it one of the oldest boutique pickup brands in the world. Häussel produces in very limited quantities — all pickups are hand-wound with selected-gauge copper and the magnets go through a strict quality control process.
The 1959 pickup is the most appreciated recreation of that year's Gibson PAF in Europe. The Tozz is a modern interpretation of the humbucker with greater clarity and definition than vintage designs. The Old Friends are the signature pickups of Thomas Blug, a guitarist who collaborated directly with Häussel on every detail of the winding.
Häussel is practically unknown outside Europe, but guitarists who discover the brand rarely return to another. The combination of aged alnico magnets, hand-selected copper, and decades of accumulated winding knowledge produces a consistently remarkable result.
