EarthQuaker Devices
Boutique Akron-built pedals known for their imaginative reverbs, delays, and one-of-a-kind textures.
About the brand
EarthQuaker Devices was founded in 2004 by Jamie Stillman in Akron, Ohio, originally in his basement. The company grew from one person hand-building pedals to a staff of over 50, all still in Akron, making it one of the most successful boutique operations in the industry.
The Afterneath algorithmic reverb, the Dispatch Master delay/reverb, and the Avalanche Run stereo reverb/delay are among the most creatively designed effects of the modern era. EQD's approach is to design tools for players who want to explore sound design, not just replicate classic tones.
The Westwood overdrive, the Plumes Op-Amp Fuzz, and the Acapulco Gold power amp distortion show their range across more conventional territory as well. Every EQD pedal is still built by hand in Ohio.

Iconic pedals
Afterneath
Algorithmic reverb that generates reverb tails with individually controllable reflectors, producing sounds ranging from spacious to the truly impossible.
Dispatch Master
Delay and reverb in a single two-knob pedal that blends both effects simultaneously. Maximum simplicity for complex ambient textures.
Avalanche Run
Stereo delay and reverb with reverse mode on both effects. Covers everything from subtle amp delay to otherworldly soundscapes.
Westwood
Transparent, sensitive overdrive based on the TS808 circuit with improvements to tone and dynamic response. Probably the finest pedal in EQD's standard line.
