Troy Grady is the author of Cracking the Code, a documentary and educational project that has revolutionised the way guitarists worldwide understand picking mechanics. Using slow-motion video analysis and physics of movement, Troy has cracked the secrets of the world's fastest guitarists.
His research shows that the world's fastest guitarists — from Eric Johnson to Guthrie Govan — use very specific wrist and elbow movements that can be learned and replicated. Concepts like downstroke slanting, upstroke slanting and two-way pickslanting are now standard vocabulary thanks to his work.
Beyond his documentary series, Troy produces applied lessons that allow guitarists of any level to implement these mechanics in their own playing. His impact on the global guitar community is hard to overstate: he has unlocked technical barriers that many believed insurmountable.
