About the brand

PRS (Paul Reed Smith) launched its first amplifier line in 2009, applying the same meticulously constructed philosophy that has defined its guitars. The first PRS amplifier was the Dallas, a 100-watt design created in collaboration with Doug Sewell, which demonstrated that PRS could compete with the best valve amplifier manufacturers.

The Archon, launched in 2013, became the most popular model in the range: two channels with exceptional versatility, capable of moving from the most crystalline clean to the most musical high gain with a dynamic response characteristic of the best valve amplifiers. The MT15 (Stealth Mini), designed with Mark Tremonti of Alter Bridge, is a compact and affordable version that democratised access to PRS tone.

The current range also includes the HDRX โ€” a recreation of the amplifiers Jimi Hendrix reportedly used live, built from period-accurate designs โ€” and the Sonzera, a two-channel amplifier oriented towards blues and classic rock. PRS demonstrates with its amplifiers that the same attention to detail defining their guitars can be equally applied to the rest of the signal chain.
